Contract manufacturer scoops top gong at Business Awards

GROTECH Production Ltd of Goole, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2017, scooped the top prize at the Goole and Howdenshire Business Awards this week.

The company, which specialises in agricultural and horticultural chemical product development, manufacture and delivery was also named the leading Environmental business.

It follows Grotech Production Ltd being named Rising Star at the Humber Renewables awards last year after they were the first business in the contract manufacturing sector to achieve Soil Association status.

The business, which is lead by MD, Martin Usher, faced strong competition against businesses which, like Grotech Production Ltd, operate internationally and have leading blue chip clients.

“We have always been very conscious of or environmental footprint and that of our customers. Being named Environmental Business of the Year validates our investment in processes that help mitigate our carbon footprint,” said Mr Usher.

Janice Lawlor, marketing assistant said that winning one award was a fantastic surprise but to win two was overwhelming. “Being named Business of the Year demonstrates that team work and determination count for a great deal.

“Grotech Production Ltd is recognised by customers for adding value at every stage of the manufacturing process be that in research, advice or manufacturing,” she said. “The judges recognised that we have a unique business offer, but that the whole team is committed to making sure we go the extra mile for customers.

“Offering such a diverse range of products and services could lead to a dilution of all or none of them but during our 40 years Grotech Production Ltd has remained focused on manufacturing high quality innovative products that make a difference, while safeguarding the environment, both locally and beyond for future generations. I think the judges recognised that we have a very sustainable business offer.

“Being judged against businesses with international reputations is a great morale booster for everyone particularly after we celebrated 40 years in business and achieved Soil Association accreditation. It is testimony to the whole team here at Britannia Way that our work is seen and not just by our customers.”

In recent months the company, which manufactures in every sector excluding food, drugs and personal care, has helped customers bring products as diverse as affordable garden fertilisers and a car fuel additive to market.

“We aimed to demonstrate the diversity of our offer of both products and services to the attention of the judges and it clearly worked,” said Janice.

Top Team Grows at Grotech Production

It’s been all change within the management team here at Grotech Production Ltd recently with three strategic promotions designed to support our future growth and develop existing sales.

The promotions see Stephen Moore taking on the role of Operations Director while Debbie Plumb heads up sales and marketing and Tom Grayson becomes Technical Manager. We are also pleased to welcome a newcomer to the Grotech family in Janice Lawlor who joins us as Sales and Marketing Executive.

By focusing on our core strengths of manufacturing high quality products for customers efficiently and sustainably Grotech Production Ltd has seen significant growth in the last three years.

Stephen, Debbie and Tom are keen to build on this and take us to the next level by identifying new customers who need our experienced and expert research and development and appreciate the added value our factory can offer.

As Operations Director Stephen will be leading our drive towards leaner manufacturing and delivering more highly profitable research and development projects. He has a vast experience of operations in diverse sectors which has already helped us diversify beyond our traditional specialist agricultural and horticulture sectors into automotive and household goods. His experience in recognising the value of, and implementing, ISO quality standards also led to Grotech becoming the first contract manufacturer to achieve Soil Association accreditation.

Sales and Marketing Manager Debbie and Technical Manager Tom will focus on the company’s core strengths in research and development for businesses looking to bring a new product to market or trial small runs before launching full scale manufacturing themselves.

Having run her own business and worked in marketing, Debbie has a wealth of experience and expertise in sales to help grow the business organically and identify new customers who can benefit from our services while Tom will oversee research and development of new product ranges for customers.

Law graduate Janice further strengthens our sales and marketing team at a pivotal point in our development. She will be exploring and introducing new initiatives in a bid to help us grow and to help our customers navigate new legislation ahead of Brexit and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Tour de Yorkshire

This weekend sees the running of the 3rd Tour de Yorkshire where the worlds top cyclists battle it out on the county’s roads to be awarded the coveted winners blue jersey.

Thousands of spectators are expected to line the route to cheer on the riders but how many of those spectators will be on their bike ? And how many of those will be protected against punctures by Wheelgoo ?

Grotech Product Development Service

Wheelgoo, is an innovative puncture sealant developed by the technical team here at Grotech Production as a result of an enquiry from a customer who wanted a high quality puncture sealant to add to their range.

Working to a brief and under a Development Agreement, Grotech not only developed the formulation, but also the pack contents and the packaging so that our customer received a “shelf ready” product.

If you have an idea that you want developing or a formulation that needs blending and packing, contact Grotech Production on 01405 761746 and see how we can help you.

Dubai Export Contract

Exporting can be challenging with complicated shipping routes and complex customs red tape to navigate.  Here at Grotech Production Ltd we have more than 40 years experience of manufacturing chemical compounds for overseas markets.

In that time our team has built up a depth of understanding about how to ensure any export process runs smoothly.

This was tested recently when we won a contract to export Evercare Freshclean cleaner to a facilities management company based in Dubai.

They were attracted by the excellent results achieved by Freshclean on a multitude of surfaces.  Tough but gentle, it brings every surface up sparkling but doesn’t adversely affect decorative finishes such as marble.  It also exceeds environmental expectations helping businesses fulfill green targets.

They particularly liked the fact that as a powder they were only paying for the product rather than the water it was diluted in.  This makes it both versatile and affordable.  Keen to trial it they ordered a consignment for a speedy delivery.

Our internal team here at Goole quickly identified the unique documents that customs both here and in Dubai would be keeping an eagle eye out for.  With experience of working on sensitive products containing chemicals we worked closely with our shipping partners Air, Sea, Road International, based in Cheshire, to ensure that the export documentation contained all the detail that customs here and in Dubai would be looking for.

Making comprehensive checks of the fine detail ensured that everything was complete before the shipment started its journey.

Paperwork was just one part of the equation.  Freshclean is designed to cut down on packaging and transport costs by being a powder.  This meant we had to ensure that the packaging was strong enough to withstand any turbulence it encountered en route.

Thanks to the expertise of our experienced team at our Goole factory, the trial was a huge success and further Freshclean has been ordered for long term use by the facilities management company in Dubai.
